Indiana Youth Services Association is celebrating 50 years!

In the early 70s during a backdrop of challenges, change, and uncertainty, Youth Service Bureaus were created. Funding was found to develop clearinghouses to divert juvenile offenders from the juvenile justice system. The Youth Service Bureaus were those clearinghouses. Many of our bureaus very quickly began offering direct services that did not exist during this time to meet the needs of the youth and families who were referred.

As YSBs were opening their doors across the state, they formed an association known as IYSA! While IYSA’s is a statewide association of YSBs, it also operates several programs that support youth, youth workers, and other non-profit agencies.
