The Journey is a collection of programs devoted to the personal and professional development of youth workers in Indiana and beyond.
Since 2003, The Journey programs have helped professionals who serve young people stay grounded in who they are and the importance of their work. They have helped youth workers get connected to each other as colleagues and friends and have inspired them to do think and act boldly on behalf of the young people they serve.
In the fall of each year, Indiana youth workers are nominated, apply, and are then selected to become Journey Fellows at the executive and entry-level. As fellows, they attend a series of four, three-day retreats in their first year and receive support for their own personal and career development.
College-level students are also selected each academic year into the Journey Scholars and The Journey Student Fellowship programs, where they learn more broadly about youth work, continue their own journey of self-discovery and participate in internships in the field.
After their initial Journey year is over, all Fellows and Scholars become a part of the larger Journey Family of practitioners and participate in professional development events including the International Youth Worker Exchange and the International Youth Worker Symposium on The Sea.
